**Question 2:** Which sequence isn’t a geometric progression? What is answer 2, 6, 18, 54 or 3, 6, 9, 12 or 4, 8, 16, 32 or 1, 5, 25, 125??

**Answer:**

A geometric progression has a common ratio which is equal throughout the series. The common ratio can be found by dividing a term with its previous term.

In the above examples,

2, 6, 18, 54 has the common ratio of 6/2 = 3 which is constant throughout the series.

Similarly for the other series.

However,

3, 6, 9, 12 has the common ratio of 6/3 = 2. However it is not constant throughout the series. Therefore it is not a geometric progression.

**Question 4:** In a marathon, 90% of runners managed to complete it and 30% of them were men. If 270 men completed it, how many total runners began the marathon?

**Answer:**

Let the total number of runners in a marathon = x

Then, the total number of people who managed to complete the marathon were= 90% of x i.e.,0.9x

Out of 0.9x people who were able to complete the marathon, percentage of men who were able to complete the marathon= 30% of 0.9x i.e., 0.27x

Then,the total number of men who completed the marathon= 270

That means, 0.27x =270

So,the final value of x will be obtained by solving 0.27x=270 such as,

x= 270/0.27

x= 1000

Therefore, the total number of runners in the marathon were 1000.

**Answer:**

Firstly, it has to be a cuboid as a cube has all its sides equal, whereas a cuboid has different measurements for length, breadth and height.

Length, Breadth and Height are given as 10cm, 5cm and 8cm.

Formula for finding the volume:

Length × Breadth × Height

So, the volume is: 10×5×8 cm^3 = 400cm^3.

Therefore, the volume of the given figure is 400cm^3.
